OVERVIEW
The rainbow mountain, also known as Vinicunca or the Rainbow Mountain, is a geological formation located in the department of Cusco, province of Canchis, Peru. It is characterized by its impressive shades of colors that adorn its surface, creating a visually impressive landscape.
This natural phenomenon is due to the mineral composition of the mountain, where you can see different layers of sedimentary rocks that have been exposed due to erosion and geological changes over time. The interaction of the minerals present in the area, such as iron oxide (red), copper sulfate (green), and other minerals, is what provides this varied palette of colors.
